House impeachment manager Rep. David Cicilline, D-R.I. delivered closing arguments in the second impeachment trial for former President Donald Trump, who is charged with inciting the Jan. 6 attack on the U.S. Capitol.
“No one is suggesting that President Trump intended every detail of what happened on Jan. 6,” Cicilline said. “But when he directed the sea of thousands before him who were reportedly ready to engage in real violence, when he told that crowd to ‘fight like hell,’ he incited violence targeted at the Capitol, and he most certainly foresaw it.”
House impeachment managers and Trump’s defense team offered their final arguments in the impeachment trial on Feb. 13. The Senate will vote on whether to convict Trump on a charge of inciting the Capitol attack. Trump was impeached by the House in January, while he was still in office.
