Ontario deputy premier provides update on COVID-19 vaccine plan ahead of reopening | LIVE

Ontario Deputy Premier and Minister of Health Christine Elliott, alongside Solicitor General Sylvia Jones, will provide an update on the province’s COVID-19 vaccination plan on Thursday, a day before the province is set to enter Step 1 of reopening.

Step 1, primarily allowing more outdoor settings and retail with restrictions, was set to begin as soon as 60 per cent of all eligible Ontario adults had received their first COVID-19 vaccine doses. However, as of June 7, more than 72 per cent of Ontario adults have received at least one dose.

Ontario reported 411 new COVID-19 cases on Wednesday, as case counts continue to trend downward, marking the 10th day in a row it’s below 1,000. There were also 33 additional deaths reported Wednesday, however the Ministry of Health said 11 of those deaths were from April and May.
