More than nine months into the pandemic and the virus continues to send shockwaves through every aspect of our daily lives. But how coronavirus and the surrounding debate impacted the scientific community? Please subscribe HERE http://bit.ly/1rbfUog
Discoveries that would previously have taken years to verify have been propelled into the news headlines at previously unthinkable speed and the ideas and research of those previously known to few outside their narrow field of scientific expertise are now chewed over by millions on socially distanced walks and zoom calls.
But how healthy is our science and the discourse around it? Are we hearing from everyone with something contribute? Are we prepared to acknowledge what we don’t know? And are we fully considering the impact of the huge decisions that are being taken?
In this special report, Newsnight takes a step back and hears concerns from eminent thinkers and health professionals about the state of the scientific debate during the Covid pandemic.
Health Correspondent Deb Cohen reports.
