COVID-19 vaccine manufacturer Moderna says based on lab tests targeting coronavirus variants, it appears their vaccine does neutralize the strain from the U.K. once both doses have been given. It also works against the South African variant but a booster shot may be required. Crystal Goomansingh explains why you are still encouraged to get the shot and more information on the variants.
British Columbia has released a long-awaited report into how that province handled COVID-19 in long-term care homes during the first wave. It was commissioned last summer and critics say it’s taken too long to be made public and the recommendations have yet to be implemented. Robin Gill reports.
The impeachment of former president Donald Trump is inching closer to a trial in the Senate. Late Monday, a procession of House members carried the article of impeachment to the Senate. Trump was impeached earlier in January, the second impeachment he’s faced, for “inciting an insurrection” in connection to the riot that saw his supporters storm the U.S. Capitol on Jan. 6. Jackson Proskow explains on why such a trial is still taking place even though he has left office.
