Global National: Jan. 12, 2021 | Ontario under 2nd state of emergency as situation becomes dire

In tonight’s top story: Ontario will be placed under new stay-at-home orders on Thursday with the provincial government declaring a second state of emergency, as COVID-19 projections show the virus is spreading faster than ever.

Abigail Bimman has more on what’s expected for Ontario in the coming days.

In Ottawa, Prime Minister Justin Trudeau shakes up his cabinet which has spurred speculation around a spring election.

David Akin explains how the recent cabinet shuffle gives insight into how Trudeau is positioning his party should an election occur in the coming months.

And in his first appearance since the U.S. Capitol deadly riot events, U.S. President Donald Trump accepted no responsibility for the siege and called the impeachment against him a “hoax” and a “witch hunt.”

Jackson Proskow has more on FBI warnings of more attacks being planned as Trump’s term comes to an end.
