Global National: Feb. 9, 2021 | Changes to Canada’s COVID-19 border measures, Pfizer vaccine vials

The federal government is putting tighter controls on people crossing the border, and changes are also being made to the rollout of Canada’s Pfizer-BioNTech COVID-19 vaccine. Health Canada has approved a request to extract six doses out of each vial instead of five. Abigail Bimman has more on the change, and why one province isn’t happy about it.

Newfoundland and Labrador, which had kept COVID-19 numbers low, is now dealing with a worrying surge. As Ross Lord reports, it is happening the week of a provincial election.

The state of emergency in Ontario expires today as parts of the province begin to gradually reopen, but for some businesses it could be too late. Mike Drolet has the story of how one business owner is feeling the squeeze.

Global’s Jackson Proskow has been following the Senate impeachment trial of former U.S. president Donald Trump, where the case against him that he incited a mob to storm the Capitol was laid out today.

The government of Alberta says it is reinstating the 1976 coal policy it revoked last spring after much public backlash. Eric Sorensen has more.
