Restricting travel is a critical method to controlling the spread of COVID-19 and the more contagious variants.
The Canadian government recently put new restrictions into place, stopping travel to and from the Caribbean and Mexico, and people who do travel will need to quarantine at a hotel for three days upon their arrival and their own dime from international destinations.
However, experts say restrictions should have come sooner. The variant is spreading across the country and, in Ontario, has had deadly consequences at one long-term care home, where more than 60 residents have died in less than a month.
Ross Lord reports on why Canada is now playing catch up as a result.
