Biden makes his first address to joint session of US Congress | LIVE

U.S. President Joe Biden has accepted the Speaker of the House’s invitation to address a joint session of Congress Wednesday.

Just 200 people, mostly lawmakers plus a handful of representatives of other arms of government and select family members, will attend the masked, socially distanced speech, in a nod to the COVID-19 pandemic that has not fully released the nation from its grip.

Biden will lay out his policy agenda for the rest of his tenure and details for the second part of his infrastructure legislation proposal, as well as tout his administration’s successful effort to vaccinate 200 million people in its first 100 days.

The president will propose two major infrastructure proposals and address problems with policing.

Sen. Tim Scott will give the GOP response to Biden’s joint address, which is often delivered as a rebuttal by a representative of an opposition party.
